Break Through in Human Resources

Human Resource Development (MS)

Program Overview Human Resource Development (MS)

As organizations continue to navigate complex business environments, the ability to strategically develop people has never been more essential to achieving long-term success. Our Master of Science in Human Resource Development (HRD) program equips you with the skills to drive human performance improvement by focusing on learning and development, career and talent development, organization development, and performance management—key areas that align people strategies with organizational goals.

Unlike Human Resource Management (HRM), which primarily addresses HR policies and administration, HRD emphasizes the continuous growth of individuals, teams, and organizations as complex systems to enhance organizational performance. You’ll be prepared to take on strategic HRD roles that not only enhance employee well-being but also drive long-term organizational success through a focus on human performance improvement. Our program develops your expertise across the following critical areas:

  • Human resource development strategy. Craft comprehensive strategies that link people development with business long-term goals and outcomes.
  • Learning and development. Design impactful learning solutions that foster employee growth, experience, and engagement.
  • Talent and career development. Build robust talent and career development strategies that ensure a future-ready workforce and leadership pipeline.
  • Change and organization development. Focus on understanding science-based paths to improving the health and adaptability of the entire organization, using a systems thinking framework.
  • Leadership development and coaching: Approach leadership development as a strategic process, cultivating leaders who drive sustainable, high-impact organizational outcomes.
  • Performance improvement (HPT/HPI): Apply human performance technology (HPT) methodologies to identify gaps and opportunities and improve performance at individual, team, and organizational levels.
  • Assessment, evaluation, and people analytics. Use data-driven insights to assess the impact of HRD initiatives and make informed, evidence-based decisions.
  • Talent intelligence and HR technology. Leverage cutting-edge HR technology, including AI and data analytics, to optimize talent strategies, improve employee experience, and drive evidence-based decision-making in HRD practices.
