Biography
We caught up with student-athlete Syndey Grimes, who is busy being a member of the ϲʹ Golf Team as well as a student in the MS in Leadership and Innovation program! Sydney shared some of her experiences balancing academics and athletics.
What is it like to be a student-athlete at ϲʹ U?
Sydney: “I have thoroughly enjoyed being a student-athlete at ϲʹ U. I am grateful I get the opportunity to continue my golf career at one of the best golf programs in the country while also pursuing a Master’s degree. I wouldn't change a thing!”
How do you balance coursework and competing as a member of the ϲʹ U Golf Team?
Sydney: “I believe one of the most valuable things a student-athlete can learn is time management. I often have to plan out my days, figuring out what time I have practice, team workouts, and then what time I have left to do homework. I find having a set schedule of what I need to complete for the day really helps me stay on top of everything. Once I figured out how to manage my time, balancing coursework and competing as a member on the golf team became easier.”
What are your career goals as a student in the MS in Leadership and Innovation program?
Sydney: “My career goals as a student in the MS in Leadership and Innovation program is to learn how to successful run my own business. I would love to be my own boss one day. I have also considered being a sports broadcaster because I love sports so much. I believe the Leadership and Innovation program is so versatile, it will be valuable for any career path I choose down the road.”
