To protect our student’s health and wellbeing, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø¿ª½± strongly recommends that all students remain properly insured with health insurance that provides them full health care benefits in the location they are taking classes or participating clinical rotations. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø¿ª½± is pleased to be able to continue to offer to our students group health insurance plan. The 2024/25 student insurance will be offered through United Healthcare Student Resources. This coverage provides national coverage throughout the United States in addition to medical repatriation and extradition while traveling abroad.
Students meeting the below criteria are automatically enrolled and billed at the beginning of their respective semesters (Fall, Spring/Summer). They have a three-week window at the semester's onset to provide proof of private coverage in Florida and opt out if applicable. Unless a waiver is submitted and approved during the open waiver period, students in these categories will continue to be billed for each subsequent semester they register for the academic year. Waivers will need to be resubmitted each subsequent Fall semester.
Students not falling within these specified categories are considered voluntary and are ineligible for this policy.
The students in the categories below are required to be fully covered with health insurance that provides full coverage in the state of Florida, specifically South Florida. To assist with this process, these required students will be billed for student health insurance at the time of registration for the semester:
- All Students residing in campus housing *
- All International students attending Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø¿ª½± on an F1 or J1 visa.
- All Athletes
- All undergraduate Nursing majors.
- All graduate students enrolled in Podiatric, Physician Assistant, Anesthesia, Law, and Occupational Therapy.
*Students who apply for resident housing will be billed for the student insurance plan upon receiving a room assignment and will be responsible to complete the waiver if billed. Applying for housing and deciding not to move in or deciding to move off campus during the semester, does not remove the requirement for the waiver. If you are billed for the student insurance plan, you must complete the waiver. Students will not be credited for the student insurance after the waiver period.
It is the student’s responsibility to read their Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø¿ª½± assigned email and check their student account. Failure to read emails will not be a reason to reverse the billing for the student health insurance after the waiver period.
Students attending classes in Tampa, Orlando, or any other area while participating in your program, are required to have full coverage in that location.

- Spring/Summer (1/6/24 – 8/10/25): $1499
- Summer only 5/16/25-8/10/25 $601 (this will only be applied to required new incoming students in the summer semester)

Insurance Requirements
What Is Considered Adequate Insurance?
- Your health insurance company must be licensed to do business in the State of Florida and coverage must extend to the county where you are attending class.
- Coverage must remain in effect while enrolled for classes.
- The premium must be paid in full for the semester in which you are enrolled.
- Full coverage with access to a general practitioner or specialist
- Hospital Emergency Room/Urgent Care Center only coverage is not accepted.
- Inpatient hospital coverage for Medical and Mental Health issues.
- The insurance plan must pay for services directly to physicians and/or hospitals.
- Reimbursable plans are not accepted.
- Prescriptive Medication Coverage (Unlimited coverage with copayment)
- An individual deductible not to exceed $2,500.00 per policy year.
- Plans with a Health Savings Account (HSA) and/or a Federal Savings Account (FSA), are exempt from this requirement.
- Outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse coverage.
Note:  International insurance plans are not accepted. International students may not waive this coverage unless they have private health insurance coverage with a U.S. insurance plan (i.e., Aetna, Cigna, BCBS or United Healthcare). International students with US plans must also have Medical Evacuation and Repatriation benefits included in their plan or purchase an additional supplemental plan that includes these benefits.

Required students MUST complete the insurance waiver and upload a copy of their insurance card within the first 3 weeks of classes of the semester. The insurance cost is nonrefundable after the waiver period ends.Â
