Kent State Fashion School Receives Top Honors in the Nation and Midwest for Design and Merchandising in New Ratings

Ā鶹¹ū¶³ā€™s School of Fashion Design and Merchandising is once again ranked high among the nationā€™s elite, according to

Kent State student models original designs created by fashion school students during the schoolā€™s 2018 Spring Fashion School.
For Fashion Design, the school has been rated #4 Nationally (top 3 percent of schools considered), #2 Nationally among public schools and colleges (top 3 percent of schools considered), and #1 in the Midwest.

For Fashion Merchandising, the school has been rated #4 Nationally (top 3 percent of schools considered), #4 Nationally among public schools and colleges (top percent of schools considered), and #2 in the Midwest.

ā€œWe are extremely proud that the Kent State Fashion School continues to be recognized as one of the top schools in the nation with the release of the Fashion-Schools.org rankings,ā€ said Kim Hahn, Ph.D., professor and interim director of the school. ā€œThis is a great testament of our amazing collection of faculty and staff who are nationally and internationally recognized scholars and educators. It also demonstrates a commitment to inspiring creative and resourceful fashion leaders, and we look forward to representing continued excellence in the field to support a globally-active industry and focused educational platform for our diverse and international students.ā€

The school was founded in 1983 and boasts a current enrollment of nearly 2,000 students who are educated across three locations including Rockwell Hall on the Kent Campus, the universityā€™s New York City studio located in the Garment District, and at Kent Stateā€™s Florence Campus in Italy.

Students enrolled in the Fashion School are also offered study-away opportunities in Paris, London, Germany, South Korea, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. Approximately 90 percent of the schoolā€™s graduates find employment in their field in less than a year, and more than 3,000 alumni can be found throughout the industry working for the worldā€™s most recognized brands.
