Ā鶹¹ū¶³ College of Podiatric Medicine Maintains Competitive Tuition Edge

Ohio students continue to receive lowest tuition in the nation

Ā鶹¹ū¶³ā€™s College of Podiatric Medicine remains one of the nationā€™s most affordable podiatric medicine programs following the Kent State Board of Trusteesā€™ approval of tuition and fees for the upcoming academic year.

With in-state tuition set at $33,700, Kent Stateā€™s College of Podiatric Medicine remains the most affordable option for Ohio residents pursuing a degree in podiatric medicine among all 11 U.S. podiatric colleges.

ā€œWe remain committed to providing an exceptional education at a value that keeps our program accessible to qualified students,ā€ said Dr. Allan Boike, dean of Kent Stateā€™s College of Podiatric Medicine. ā€œEven with this adjustment, our Ohio students will continue to enjoy the lowest tuition rates in the nation, and our out-of-state students will benefit from rates that remain below the national median.ā€

The tuition adjustment comes less than two years after a landmark 30% reduction in tuition for Ohio residents, which was implemented in spring 2024. That significant decrease resulted from Kent Stateā€™s successful multiyear effort to secure State Share of Instruction funding for podiatric medicine students ā€“ a victory that continues to benefit students today.

ā€œThe 2023 tuition reduction transformed our programā€™s affordability and competitiveness,ā€ Boike noted. ā€œOhio students who complete their four-year program will still save approximately $49,000 compared to pre-2024 rates, even with this modest adjustment.ā€

The tuition adjustment will help address capital repairs and upgrades for the collegeā€™s aging facilities while maintaining the high-quality education that has made Kent Stateā€™s College of Podiatric Medicine a leader in podiatric medicine. The college produces more than 80% of Ohioā€™s practicing podiatrists, making it a crucial pipeline for healthcare professionals in the state.

The tuition adjustment will take effect for the 2025-2026 academic year, with third-year and fourth-year students beginning their new academic year in May. Tuition for out-of-state students is set at $44,974.
